Becky Jones
Specialist Neurophysio

Approach to therapy

I am a passionate advocate for physical activity, and believe that there are many people, with all levels of ability, that would like to improve the way they move and optimize their physical health.  My expertise is to support those where neurological symptoms have affected a persons ability to move and function.

Through a comprehensive assessment, listening to individuals hopes and aims, combined with many years of specialist rehabilitation experience I collaborate with clients to set and work towards ambitious movement goals.

I provide 1:1 hands on rehabilitation with people in their own homes, facilitating recovery and supporting them to move better, become stronger and increase confidence in exercising to restore function, independence and improved health and well-being.  I also offer rehabilitation in alternative locations such as gyms, outdoor spaces, swimming pools and support into local exercise groups.

Treatment sessions are personalised to the specific needs of the individual and incorporate a range of interventions.  This can include hands-on gait and movement re-education, strength and conditioning, vestibular and balance retraining, stretching and relaxation or hydrotherapy.  I am also skilled at the assessment for and use of adjuncts to therapy such as Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation and FES, mobility aids, Orthotics and splinting.

My Experience

Further to graduating with a BSc (hons) physiotherapy degree at The University of Brighton in 2003 I have practiced as a Chartered Physiotherapist, specialising in Neurology Physiotherapy for 20 years.

During this time I have gained extensive experience in both NHS and private physiotherapy practice working within London, Berkshire and Surrey.  I spent a large part of my career working at The National Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery in Queen Square, London.  Here I gained specialist skills and knowledge through working with experts on the acute Neurosurgical wards, the Stroke unit, specialist Multiple Sclerosis outpatient clinics, leading a team on the Tertiary Neurorehabilitation Unit and working as part of the nationally renowned Spasticity Service delivering specialist clinics, intrathecal and Botox services.

Since starting a family, I moved out of London and continued my passion of providing specialist neurorehabilitation to clients closer to home.  I have been offering private Neurorehabilitation to clients local to Ascot for over 10 years. In addition, I continue to run some Specialist Outpatient Neurophysiotherapy clinics for the NHS, based at Frimley Park Hospital.  Here I lead an Outpatient Neurophysiotherapy team and have set up 2 new services including Neuro-hydrotherapy and an MDT Spasticity Clinic.  Within this clinic I provide Medical Botox Injections for the treatment of Spasticity, in addition to expert advice on oral spasticity medication and complex physical disability management.

To ensure I continue to provide high quality, evidence-based and contemporary care for my clients I maintain up-to-date knowledge of new developments within the field of neurorehabilitation and technology, and continue to maintain professional contact with my London colleagues, attending conferences, courses and webinars.  In addition,  I am a member of the HCPC, Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the Specialist Interest Group ACPIN (Association of Physiotherapists interested in Neurology).
